Trans Nzoia Governor, George Natembeya, has recently implemented a reshuffle of his County Executive Committee (CEC) and chief officers, with the aim of enhancing efficiency and improving service delivery in the county. The changes, as stated in the announcement made on Wednesday, July 19, were to be immediately effective and were carried out in accordance with Article 31 (d) of the County Government Act 2012.
Among the key changes, CEC Samson Otieno Ojwang has been reassigned from Public Service Management to head the Education and Technical Training department. In turn, Julie Cherobon Kichwen Rutto, the former Education CEC, has been moved to the Public Service Management role.
Furthermore, Kennedy Etyang Seme, who previously served as the Chief Officer for Public Service Management, will now be responsible for overseeing the Trade and Industrialisation department. Chief officers Philip Kapten and Jane Masika Wachenge have also been reassigned, with Kapten moving from Lands to Public Service Management, and Wachenge taking on the responsibilities of Gender, Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism.
Another notable change is the transfer of Patrick Osoro Okong’o from the Agriculture, Irrigation, Livestock, Fisheries, and Co-operative Development department to become the Chief Officer for Lands.
Isaac Omari Ndiema, who was previously in the Trade and Industrialisation department, will now serve in the Agriculture, Irrigation, Livestock, Fisheries, and Co-operative Development department. Additionally, Roselyne Nasiebanda has been moved from Education to take over the role of Chief Officer for Gender, Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism.
Governor Natembeya believes that these changes will lead to improved services for the people of Trans Nzoia. This move comes shortly after the Nairobi Governor, Johnson Sakaja, also made similar changes in his cabinet. The County Executive Committee members play pivotal roles in overseeing various departments within the county, similar to the National government’s cabinet at the national level.
