Postbank Opens 600+ Branches to Customers of Other Banks and SACCOs in New Pesalink Deal

Customers of participating commercial banks and SACCOs can now deposit cash through more than 600 Postbank branches and authorised agent locations across Kenya. The development follows a partnership between Postbank PLC and Pesalink, which seeks to expand access to banking services through shared financial infrastructure.

The arrangement allows customers to make real-time cash deposits into accounts held with participating financial institutions. However, withdrawals will not be available during the initial phase of the partnership.

Under the agreement, banks and SACCOs will access Postbank’s existing distribution network without having to establish separate technical integrations or negotiate individual commercial agreements. This replaces the previous arrangement, which required one-to-one partnerships between financial institutions and agent banking networks.

Postbank Managing Director Dr Raphael Lekolool said the partnership would create more transaction opportunities for agents while expanding the bank’s customer reach.

“The partnership also gives Postbank agents access to a broader customer base and additional revenue streams,” the bank said.

Postbank has operated agent banking services since 1978, and the new arrangement seeks to extend the reach of its established network. Meanwhile, Pesalink plans to onboard more commercial banks and SACCOs in the coming months.

Existing Postbank customers will also continue accessing full banking services across its agent network.
