Kingdom Bank to Suspend Services During Core Banking System Upgrade

Kingdom Bank will temporarily suspend all banking services from Friday afternoon as it upgrades its core banking system. The lender says the move is part of efforts to improve customers’ banking experience.

The bank, a subsidiary of Co-operative Bank of Kenya, said the interruption will begin at 3:30pm on Friday, October 9, 2026, and continue until 12pm on Sunday, October 11. Customers have therefore been advised to complete any urgent transactions before the scheduled downtime.

Branches will also operate on shorter hours on Friday. They will close at 1pm, and will reopen at 8am on Monday, October 12.

However, customers will not have to wait until Monday to resume all services. Cards and digital banking services will become available from 12pm on Sunday, once the system upgrade period ends.

The bank said the upgrade is intended to enhance its banking services, and it apologised for any inconvenience caused by the temporary interruption.

Kingdom Bank has also cautioned customers to remain alert during the upgrade period. The lender reminded customers that it will never request sensitive banking details through phone calls, SMS or email.

“Kingdom Bank will never ask for your PIN, password, OTP, card number, or any confidential banking information,” the bank said.

Customers have consequently been urged to keep their banking information secure and avoid sharing it with anyone, even as the system upgrade takes place.
