Interim Pakistani PM Cancels Kenya Climate Summit Visit

The interim Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, has abruptly called off his inaugural international trip to Kenya. He was set to attend the Africa Climate Summit from September 4 to 6, 2023, upon the invitation of Kenya’s President, William Samoei Ruto. However, Pakistan’s escalating economic challenges compelled the prime minister to forgo his debut overseas venture.

Kakar’s participation in the summit was eagerly anticipated, as he was slated to present Pakistan’s viewpoint on the worldwide climate predicament. Additionally, he intended to showcase the nation’s endeavors to reconstruct resiliently after the catastrophic floods that swept through the country the previous year.

While in Nairobi, a roster of bilateral discussions with African leaders, including those from Kenya, and other esteemed personalities had been arranged for Kakar. Regrettably, those meetings will now be postponed or possibly canceled.

Pakistani authorities have formally notified the Kenyan government through diplomatic channels about the prime minister’s change in plans.
