Millie Odhiambo Refutes Rumors, Reaffirms Support for Azimio

Suba North MP, Millie Odhiambo, has categorically dismissed rumors suggesting her disapproval of the anti-government protests led by the Azimio La Umoja Coalition. In her statement on July 26, she confirmed her unwavering support for the coalition and its leader, Raila Odinga of the ODM Party.

She was critical of social media rumors asserting her opposition to the coalition’s anti-government protests and claims of her denying Odinga’s potential presidency. She denounced these rumors as malicious attempts to tarnish her reputation and confirmed her full backing for Odinga.

Simultaneously, Odhiambo issued a stern warning to the Kenya Kwanza government, accusing it of trying to silence leaders who highlight its shortcomings. She insisted on the need for respect towards the constitutional right to freedom of expression and condemned any state efforts to persecute leaders for criticizing government actions.

Odhiambo also accused the government of utilizing the police force as a tool to intimidate and arrest those leaders aligned with Azimio for expressing their views against the government.

Her statement follows the online spread of a false digital card, falsely quoting her as advising Odinga to abandon anti-government protests. The misleading quote portrayed her as believing the protests to be ineffective and Odinga’s chances of presidency as non-existent, which she vehemently denies.
