The embassy has acknowledged the security precautions the Kenyan government has taken, such as the counterterrorism patrols.US nationals in the nation have been urged to exercise caution in areas that are popular with tourists and visitors from other countries, to check their personal security plans, to be aware of their surroundings, and to keep an eye on local media for updates.

Following recent incidents of resident muggings, the Kenyan government has maintained a state of high alert with multi-agent security teams in Nairobi. This occurs just a month after the US Embassy in Tanzania’s Dar es Salaam issued a security warning to its nationals over a “potential attack.”
