Why I Don’t Believe President Ruto’s Calls For A Truce – ODM MP

Despite agreeing to a ceasefire with Azimio leader Raila Odinga, Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has recently stated that he will oppose President William Ruto’s recommendations for the reorganization of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Amisi claimed in a statement on Monday that President Ruto cannot be trusted since he deceived millions of Kenyans while running for office.

The Head of State, according to Amisi, has never been a reformer.

“I will lead Azimio in rejecting all of Ruto’s suggestions on Thursday. That dude is untrustworthy. He would lie to anyone, at any moment, if he was going to lie to millions of desperate con artists. He has never been a reformer; for him, the goal always outweighs the means. Huge No!” I tweeted Amisi.

This comes after Raila Odinga, the head of Azimio la Umoja, halted anti-government demonstrations.

We have spoken with and listened to many people, including religious leaders, who have pleaded with us to give dialogue a chance. William Ruto has made what I believe to be a significant statement.

“We appreciate the offer of communication; this is a good development. We agree to a fair legislative process that will be co-chaired by both parties. This committee must complete its work right away, including all arrests and legal actions related to demonstrations, Raila stated on Sunday.

But, Raila pledged to resume protests if the parliamentary negotiations failed to produce results in a week.

“We stress that our constitution gives us the right to congregate, and we reserve the right to call for demonstrations if there is no positive result. After a week, we’ll pick back up again, he added.

On Monday, President Ruto gave the Kenya Kwanza Alliance parliamentary leadership the order to use a bipartisan approach to resolving the issues brought up by the opposition.

In order to address the issues brought up by the opposition as a matter of priority, Ruto said, “We have requested that the parliamentary leadership of both Houses take into consideration our suggestion for a bipartisan approach.”
