TSC Announces Over 45,000 Teacher Vacancies and Internship Opportunities

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced more than 45,000 openings for teachers across the country, in one of the largest recruitment drives in recent years. The positions include 21,313 permanent vacancies and 24,000 internship opportunities aimed at bolstering the teaching workforce and supporting the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

The permanent positions cut across various grades and leadership levels in both primary and secondary institutions. They include chief principal, senior principal, principal, deputy principal, senior lecturer, senior master, secondary teacher I, senior headteacher, headteacher, deputy headteacher, senior teacher, senior curriculum support officer, and curriculum support officer.

Qualified applicants for these vacancies are required to submit their applications exclusively through the TSC online portal at www.teachersonline.go.ke. The application deadline is set for midnight on Monday, August 25, 2025.

In a move aimed at addressing staffing gaps in junior schools, the TSC has also announced 24,000 internship positions. These opportunities are expected to enhance the implementation of the CBC by providing additional manpower and mentoring opportunities for young educators.

Applications for the internship positions will open on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, and close at midnight on Monday, September 9, 2025. Interested candidates can apply via the TSC website at www.tsc.go.ke under the “Careers” section, or through teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.

The Commission has urged all eligible teachers to take advantage of the recruitment drive, emphasizing that all applications must be submitted online and within the stipulated deadlines.

Education stakeholders say the large-scale recruitment is expected to ease the pressure on the teaching workforce, particularly in under-staffed rural schools, while also providing career progression opportunities for serving teachers.
