Supremacy Battle In Kakamega As Deputy Governor Ayub Savula Claims Equal Power To the Governor-Elect, Fernandes Barasa

Kakamega County Deputy governor-elect Ayub Savula has disclosed that he and the governor elect Fernades Barasa share a 50/50 county government of Kakamega including appointing of persons in the cabinet secretaries positions.

Speaking at a funeral in Lugari on Saturday, Savula who left Amani National Congress (ANC) at the eleventh hour to join Azimio-One Kenya Coalition claims he was coerced, intimidated and threatened with prosecution over graft by the Directorate of Criminal Investigative (DCI) senior officers to support ODM flagbearer, Raila Odinga in the just concluded 9th August election. In return, he would manage the county government of ten ministries with the incoming governor at half.

“I have not mentioned it to anyone but today I will go public about it. It is the coercion from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) that forced me to support the Azimio coalition. They arrested me together with my two wives at night on fictitious charges.” Savula said.

“It did not stop at that. I was arraigned and on the other hand, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) was on my neck with a dubious tax bill of Sh500,000,000. It was until an officer from the DCI hinted to me that I would be a free man once I declared support for Raila and not Ruto.” He added.

The former Lugari Member of Parliament was jointly elected with Ferdinand Barasa on an Orange Democratic Movement ticket as they await the swearing-in on Thursday, September 15 at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega Town.

Nyeri county has also experienced the same power ambiguities with the fall out of the governor elect Mutahi Kahiga and his deputy Dr Caroline Karugu.
