However, with the Deputy President’s fate now hugely lying in the hands of the senators, Hon. Kingi asked the senate house to fully show their loyalty to the Constitution during the hearing of allegations crowded upon the DP.

Speaking while reading the 11-charges Gachagua is being linked with, Mr Kingi said, “this is an opportunity for Senate to demonstrate its fidelity to the Constitution, it therefore behooves the Senate to maintain integrity and impartiality in this administration of justice and make a determination purely on merit.”

He also reminded the house to be even much sober when handling the motion, considering it being a historic incident

“This impeachment motion is unique, as it is the first ever to propose removal from office by impeachment of a deputy president. This moment calls for deep reflection on the critical responsibility of the Senate in investigating such a proposal.” Read in part of his introduction.
