Sifuna, Orengo and Leaders Launch Talks to Strengthen Political Unity

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna on Tuesday joined Siaya Governor James Orengo, Members of Parliament and other senior political figures in a strategic dialogue aimed at fostering unity, coordination and a shared political vision among progressive leaders.The consultative meeting, which brought together leaders from Parliament, county governments and party structures, marked the beginning of broader engagements intended to enhance collaboration on governance, policy direction and national leadership.

Those present described the talks as timely, coming at a moment when political cohesion and clarity of purpose are increasingly seen as critical to effective leadership.Among the leaders in attendance were Turkana South MP Hon. Namoit, Senator Mumma, Asige, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, Ruth Odinga, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Nairobi County Assembly Majority Leader Peter Imwatok, Hon. Reuben Ndolo, former Attorney General Hon. Amos Wako, Edwin Ngonga and John Andiwo.

The wide representation reflected an effort to bring together voices from different regions, generations and leadership levels.Speaking during the dialogue, Senator Sifuna emphasized that meaningful political unity must be grounded in shared principles rather than convenience.

He noted that sustained conversations among leaders were necessary to align priorities, strengthen democratic values and ensure that leadership remains responsive to the needs of citizens.Governor Orengo underscored the importance of constitutionalism, accountability and integrity in public service.

He said that leaders had a responsibility to engage honestly with one another and with the public, adding that unity should not come at the expense of principles or good governance.Discussions during the meeting reportedly focused on governance reforms, economic empowerment, youth inclusion and the role of leaders in defending democratic space.

Participants agreed on the need for structured engagement and regular consultations to address national challenges in a coordinated manner.Millie Odhiambo and Babu Owino highlighted the role of Parliament and county assemblies in advancing social justice and protecting the interests of marginalized communities.

Other speakers stressed the importance of strengthening institutions and promoting issue-based politics rather than personality-driven contests.Former Attorney General Amos Wako called for strict adherence to the rule of law, noting that political cooperation anchored in constitutional values was key to national stability and progress.Organizers said the dialogue was the first in a series of planned engagements aimed at consolidating ideas and building a common platform for collaboration.

The leaders expressed commitment to sustaining the talks and translating the outcomes into practical actions that promote unity, accountability and inclusive development across the country.
