Security Intensifies As Police Warn On Closure Of Several Roads On Monday Ahead Of The Apex Court Ruling

Kenya National Police Service has released a statement highlighting a number of roads in Nairobi that will be closed on Monday, two hours before the announcement of Supreme Court verdict on the presidential petition.

Inspector General Noor Gabow explained that the move is to ensure security for everyone while advising the public to follow the proceedings from home.

According to the statement, three roads leading to Supreme Court are, one, Ngong road which will be blocked at the junction of Ngong Road 1st Avenue, opposite NHIF. Motorists to use Haile Selassie road when need to acess CBD since there will no be way through Kenyatta Avenue via Cathedral road.

Cathedral road or Milimani Ngong road heading to Milimani law courts, barriers will be placed at Kenyatta Avenue/Valley Road (NSSF) and only vehicles going to the Court will be allowed in. Any other vehicles will have to use Valley road instead.

Cathedral road/Haile Selassie Avenue will also be closed and motorists should use an alternative route of Haile Selassie/Ngong road.

Public is therefore advised to stay away from this roads and areas, moreso away from Supreme Court where the much awaited rulling is set to be delivered by the seven judges led by Chief Justice Martha Koome
