Kenya’s leading telco, Safaricom, has decided to honour their staffs living with disabilities in a special way as the 2024 International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) approaches on December 3rd.
Acknowledging its colleagues’ commitment to inclusion and diversity across the nation, on an impactful session, Safaricom not only honoured its own staff but also extended the honour with those of its staffs who have loved ones living with disabilities.

The company further reaffirmed its mission, that looks forward to fostering a culture where everyone can thrive
The program included a thought-provoking panel discussion with Teddy Nzioka, Safaricom Senior Software Engineer, and Maryann Emomesi, Communications Expert & Disability Rights Advocate.
The panel explored how emerging technologies can empower PWDs and enhance accessibility. Both panelists emphasized the importance of up-skilling, owning one’s space, and embracing opportunities with confidence.
A highlight of the day was the launch of the Safaricom Sign Language Club, a significant step toward breaking communication barriers and enhancing inclusivity for the deaf community.
