A section of Members of Parliament close to President William Ruto now want BBC Africa banned from Kenya after the “Blood Parliament” documentary expose. The fraction is led by the Homa Bay town MP Peter Kaluma who argues that documentary by BBC Africa is twisted.
Speaking hours later after BBC Africa published the detailed documentary on YouTube, the lawmaker insisted that the documentary is partial, reckless and intends to incite chaos in Kenya.
Kaluma now urges the relevant agencies of the Government of Kenya to take swift action to withdraw the BBC Africa licence in Kenya.
His sentiments have come, even as millions of Kenyans continue to give out their opinions via social platforms, with majority calling for justice to be served to the Gen Zs who lost their lives while fighting for better leadership.
The documentary, titled “Blood Parliament”, reveals shocking details about the Kenya Finance Bill 2024 protests on June 25, 2024. It has been compiled after BBC Africa analysed more than 5,000 images that were taken within the period that Gen Zs found way into and outside the Parliament during the #OccupyParliament anti-government protests.
The findings focused on revealing the unknown officers who killed unarmed protesters who posed no threat to anyone.
Using OSINT, BBC identified security forces who shot three unarmed protesters namely; David Chege, Ericsson Mutisya, and Eric Shieni, all who died on that fateful afternoon of June, 25.
