Raila: Tsunami of Taxes Will Suffocate Jobless Youth

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has threatened to mobilize party members to oppose the proposed finance bill by the Kenya Kwanza government, terming it a ‘tsunami’ of taxes to poor Kenyans.

According to Raila, while addressing the press on the matter on Monday 8, 2023, conscious leaders should not think otherwise will voting in for such proposals. He stressed on the Azimio stand further dissociating themselves from the entire debate.

Taking the matter further onto his social media platform to engage a huge audience he commands, Odinga promised his followers to drop his last sweat in ensuring the newly proposed financial bill doesn’t pass to be effective.

He wrote, “The proposed Finance Bill by the Kenya Kwanza Regime is a punishing burden on Kenyans. The tsunami of taxes will suffocate the jobless youth and the poor.”

He then added:

“We strongly oppose this anti-people budget and will ensure it doesn’t pass. If it does, we disassociate ourselves from it.”

Meanwhile, Odinga eventually fulfilled his pledge to sue president Ruto over appointment to a taskforce to look into the Shakahola incident. This came barely a day after the former Prime Minister threatened to seek legal action against President Ruto, who according to him, misused his powers to infringe into the laws of this motherland.
