PSC Begins Selection Interviews for Internship Slots Across the Country

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has officially commenced nationwide selection interviews for 7,000 unemployed university graduates under the 8th Cohort of the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP). In a press release dated December 1, 2025, the Commission confirmed that the interviews began on Monday and will run for one week.

According to the PSC, the interviews are being conducted among 13,117 shortlisted candidates who were selected from 35,659 applicants who expressed interest in the programme. The Commission stated that the interviews will conclude on December 6, 2025, after which successful candidates will be deployed to government ministries, state departments, and agencies in January 2026 to begin a one-year paid internship programme.

To ensure nationwide coverage and inclusivity, the Commission said it had deployed interview teams to 13 regional centres covering Western, Nyanza, Coast, Rift Valley, North Eastern, Eastern, Nairobi, and parts of Central Kenya. The PSC said the approach reflects its commitment to equity and representation, noting that “the grassroots approach to the recruitment of Cohort 8 interns attests to the Commission’s commitment to ensure diversity, equity, inclusivity, and the face of Kenya in the recruitment process.”

The PSC further reiterated that the programme is designed to enhance youth employability by building technical capacity and exposing young graduates to public service operations in line with Article 232 of the Constitution. It also emphasized that the recruitment process is being conducted with the highest standards of professionalism, fairness, merit, transparency, and equal opportunity as required by law.

All shortlisted candidates have already been notified through official SMS alerts, with the Commission directing them to access detailed interview instructions on their respective jobs portals. Candidates are required to appear in person with their original National ID cards, academic certificates, and transcripts, among other supporting documents indicated in their interview notifications.
