President William Ruto Says He Sees No Competition

President William Ruto has revealed he does not see any serious competitor for his reelection bid.

After the main competitor for the ruling party, UDA, Raila Odinga decided to work for Ruto after he was promised cabinet slots in the country; there remains no serious competitor for the president. Several politicians have expressed their interest in the top seat.Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has hinted at forming a coalition with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to try to take on Ruto. Former Cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi has also hinted at going for the top seat, but nothing has materialised so far.

While speaking in Uasin Gishu, Ruto said that he competes with his track record. “Until now, I’ve yet to see any serious competition. The competition is between me and my track record. I can’t see any other competitors.Many think I have failed because things are taking too long to work, yet I found this country in a very bad state.”He said.

Ruto went on to add that under his regime the economy of the country has stabilised and is so far doing well. “The inflation rate was at 9%. Now we have reduced it to 2.7%.The exchange rate had risen to one hundred and sixty something, and now it is one hundred and twenty something. I can confidently say that Kenya’s economy is good and standing.” He revealed.
