H.E President William Ruto has continued putting efforts on his government’s plan to connect homes across the country with electricity, this time commissioning the Shuublow electrification project in Wajir East constituency, Wajir County.
The Shuublow project aims to connect 91 households to electricity with the government targeting to achieve that via the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) plan.
“The Government will invest KSh3.5 billion in the next two years to connect to 20,000 households to power in Wajir County as part of our wider plan to foster entrepreneurship across Kenya,” President Ruto’s social statement read.

According to REREC CEO Dr. Rose Mkalama, the corporation, through the World Bank-funded Kenya Off-grid Solar Access Project (KOSAP), looks forward to expand access to electricity in the region.
Dr. Mkalama alluded that REREC, in collaboration with Kenya Power, will construct 120 mini-grids, which will be solar-powered, to increase access to electricity in 14 off-grid counties.
