On Friday, December 13, President William Ruto declared that new police uniforms would be introduced in the upcoming weeks.
Ruto promised the more than 100,000 police officers a number of adjustments, including this one. The Head of State stated that he would shortly consult with police leadership to determine the dates for the introduction of the new uniforms with the announcement of the National Police and State Department of Correctional Services Strategic Plans 2023-2027. In order to motivate the officers in their work, the administration decided to introduce the new police uniforms, according to President Ruto.
Ruto assured his commitment to bringing positive changes to the police. “We will make sure that we give our policemen and women uniforms that inspire them to work and to go forward; that is something that we are going to do,” he added. “We intend to make sure that many of our police officers who discharge a very sensitive responsibility of protecting all of our work in a condition that helps them to discharge that responsibility better,” he said.
