Police Provide Assurance of Enhanced Security Measures at Ngong Racecourse for Jubilee NDC

The Nairobi police boss, Adamson Bungei, has guaranteed maximum security measures for the upcoming Jubilee’s National Delegates Congress (NDC) scheduled to take place at the Ngong Racecourse on Monday. The event has gained attention due to a faction led by Former President Uhuru Kenyatta aiming to remove party members aligned with East Africa Legislative Assembly MP Kanini Kega.

To prevent potential clashes between Uhuru’s group and Kega’s supporters, over 50 police officers have been deployed to the venue. Bungei stated that the police are fully aware of the event and are prepared to provide the necessary security.

This NDC follows the recent expulsion of vice chairperson David Murathe and Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni by Kega’s faction. Despite rumors of an NDC meeting, Kega reiterated that no such gathering would occur until the party officially notifies its members.

After being denied access to the Bomas of Kenya, Uhuru announced a change in venue, relocating the NDC to Ngong Racecourse. Kega’s camp, which includes Nominated MP Sabina Chege and other leaders, has aligned themselves with President William Ruto, opposing Uhuru’s involvement based on the Presidential Retirement Benefits Act, which restricts a retired president from holding office in a political party within six months of their presidency’s end.
