Pathologist Confirms X Influencer Albert Ojwang Was Assaulted Before Death

NAIROBI — A post-mortem conducted today at the Nairobi Funeral Home has confirmed that Albert Ojwang, the late X influencer and teacher who died on Sunday, was a victim of assault.

Pathologist Bernard Midia revealed that Ojwang sustained multiple injuries inconsistent with self-harm. “The cause of death is very clear: head injury, neck compression, and additional bodily injuries that point to assault,” Midia stated. He added that the wounds indicated signs of a struggle, contradicting the police’s initial claim that Ojwang fatally injured himself by hitting his head on a cell wall.

Midia confirmed that samples from the autopsy had been submitted for further forensic analysis to corroborate the findings.

Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo supported the pathologist’s report, alleging that Ojwang had been severely tortured. She also questioned the circumstances surrounding his arrest and detention. “His family was only informed after he had died. We want answers — who arrested him, where was he taken, and under whose orders?” she posed.

Ojwang’s autopsy was delayed by a day after government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor recused himself due to a familial connection to the deceased.

The findings add weight to earlier concerns raised by Ojwang’s family lawyer, who said the body showed signs of defensive injuries on the hands and back. These revelations have intensified scrutiny of the National Police Service’s account of Ojwang’s final hours at the Central Police Station.

Tensions escalated Monday when activists stormed the City Mortuary demanding transparency over Ojwang’s death.

As public outcry grows, pressure mounts on authorities to launch a full investigation into what now appears to be a case of fatal assault.

More developments to follow.
