Pakistan Send Investigators To Kenya To Probe Death Of Journalist Arshad Sharif

Three senior security agents from the Pakistani government have been dispatched to Kenya to look into the murder of journalist Arshad Sharif on Sunday.

Athar Waheed, the director of the Federal Investigation Agency for the nation, and Omar Shahid Hamid, the deputy director-general of the Intelligence Bureau, make up the team.

In what the authorities in the East African nation of Kenya alleged to be a case of mistaken identity, Sharif was slain by Kenyan police officers on Sunday night.

Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, claimed on Monday that Kenyan President William Ruto had guaranteed him of a thorough probe into the assassination despite the fact that Sharif’s stories about his administration have been published.

According to a statement from Kenya’s National Police Service (NPS), officers guarding a roadblock on Magadi Road mistakenly believed Sharif and his brother Khurram Ahmed to be kidnappers trafficking a baby from Starehe in Nairobi, the country’s capital.

Sharif has been praised as a courageous man who overcame all obstacles in a nation regarded as one of the most dangerous for journalists. He used to be critical of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who came to office in April 2022 after the no-confidence vote that resulted in the resignation of former cricket star Imran Khan.

His problems with the administration began when he became the first to reveal the prime minister’s trip to Saudi Arabia. A few days later, his attorney disclosed that he had learned that individuals wearing civilian clothing had visited the journalist’s home.

“Last night, Arshad Sharif called me. Arshad Sharif “broke the story regarding the prime minister’s trip to Saudi Arabia,” the attorney was cited as saying in a court proceeding in April 2022.

After learning of the plans to deport him to Pakistan, Sharif abruptly left the United Arab Emirates, possibly out of worry for his safety.

The journalist left ARY News in August 2022 after hosting a conversation show regarding Pakistani politics there.

Sharif was accused of sedition when he departed his native country.

He passed away in Kenya while he was leaving the Ammodump Kwenia club, which is well-liked by the local Pakistanis and Indians.
