Ousted Gachagua Slams Mt Kenya Lawmakers Who Pushed for His Impeachment

Ousted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hit on the National Assembly, asking them to rush the approval of the Coffee Bill, tabled in the house in 2023, with the same pace they took to pass his impeachment motion.

Speaking at a funeral service in Kirinyaga County, on Saturday November 2, the former DP took a jab specially at Mt Kenya leaders who rushed to approve his impeachment motion, urging them to hasten the approval of the Coffee Bill 2023 and Cooperative Bill 2023 which he claims, will relieve most coffee farmers.

“The speed they used to impeach me, let them use the same speed to pass the Coffee Bill. Let it be passed and be gazetted after presidential ascent. I want to urge Mt Kenya leaders who impeached me to use the same speed and efficiency to pass the Coffee Bill 2023 and Cooperative Bill 2023,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua, ridiculously hit on those lawmakers hailing from the Mt Kenya region, to also employ similar motivation they had few weeks ago when they were demanding for his removal from office, to ensure the debts the government owes coffee farmers are disbursed.

“The motivation you had to wake up early in the morning and at night to remove me from the office, fight for that money to get to Ksh7 million from Ksh5 million so that we can pay our coffee farmers,” he further asserted.

However, Gachagua made it crystal clear that he holds no grudge against his former boss President William Ruto, revealing that he is ready to accommodate the Head of State should he nearly make a visit to the Mt Kenya region.
