World Marathon Record holder, Eliud Kipchoge has been nominated for the 2022 Men’s World Athlete of the year Award.
The announcement was made on Thursday and that day marked the beginning of the voting process for the 2022 World Athletes of the Year, which will take place alongside the World Athletics Awards.
Kipchoge will be competing against nine other top athletes for the prestigious awards, with the winner to be announced on World on World Athletics’ social media platforms in early December
The super star is up against World Champions Kristjan Ceh (World Discuss Champion), Alison dos Santos (World 400m hurdles Champion), Mondo Duplantis ( World pole vault champion), Soufiane El Bakkali ( World 3000m steeplechase champion) and Grant Holloway (World 110m hurdle champion).
Other world champions are Jakob Ingebrigtsen ( World 5000m champion), Noah Lyles ( world 200m champion), Anderson Peters ( World javelin champion) and Pedro Pichardo ( World triple jump champion)
These athletes were selected by an international panel of athletics experts, comprising representatives from all six continental areas of World Athletics
The finalists will be chosen using a three-way voting method. The World Athletics Council and World Athletics Family will vote via email, while fans can vote online through the World Athletics social media platforms.
The World Athletic Council’s will count for 50% of the final result, While the World Athletic Family’s vote and public votes will each count for 25%
