Opposition Leaders Join Kenyans at 2026 People’s Dialogue Festival in Nairobi

Several opposition leaders on Thursday participated in the 2026 People’s Dialogue Festival taking place at the gardens of Uhuru Park in Nairobi, where discussions on governance, democracy and citizen participation are underway.Among the leaders present were DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua, DAP-Kenya party leader Eugene Wamalwa and Democratic Party leader Justin Muturi.

The trio joined other political figures, civil society representatives, youth groups and members of the public attending the multi-day civic forum. The People’s Dialogue Festival has become a significant platform for public engagement in Kenya, providing space for citizens and leaders to interact openly on matters affecting the country.

The forum focuses on issues such as governance reforms, accountability in leadership, economic challenges, youth empowerment and the protection of democratic institutions.During the event, speakers and participants are expected to share their perspectives on the state of the nation and explore possible solutions to challenges facing Kenyans.

The discussions also provide an opportunity for leaders to listen directly to the concerns of citizens and respond to questions from the public. The presence of Rigathi Gachagua, Eugene Wamalwa and Justin Muturi is seen as a show of continued engagement by opposition leaders in civic forums that promote dialogue and democratic participation. The festival, hosted at Uhuru Park, features panel discussions, public debates, exhibitions and interactive sessions aimed at encouraging national conversations on Kenya’s political and social future.

Organisers say the event is designed to strengthen democratic culture by giving ordinary citizens a chance to directly interact with policymakers and opinion leaders. The People’s Dialogue Festival continues in Nairobi with more sessions expected to address governance, human rights, public policy and the role of citizens in shaping the country’s future.
