Senator Tom Ojienda, who met President William Ruto in the State House, has come under fire from ODM Kisumu branch members.
Seth Kanga, vice chairman of the county party, claimed that Ojienda had disobeyed the ODM leadership and needed to be punished.
“We noticed that Migori Senator Eddy Okech had written to party leaders over the same, and I believe the party has started disciplinary proceedings. We have also started the same process, “added Kanga.
According to him, ODM abides by the law and the bill of rights, and they will uphold Ojienda’s right to a fair hearing before taking any further action, chaired by Paul Akeyo.
We are a party with established guidelines, and all decisions will be made in accordance with the law “explained Kanga.
“Our Senator visited him at State House with another 8 MPs despite going against party resolutions that we don’t recognize the Ruto-led administration.”
This comes after the ODM Siaya chapter requested that Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda be removed from his position as the party branch secretary. Bondo ODM vice chairperson George Mawere stated, “Today, members have unanimously resolved to dismiss the branch secretary and MP Gideon Ochanda and his post assumed by East Yimbo ward MCA.
A member of a particular political party who dines with a party that is in competition with their own party is regarded to have resigned from the party that they belong to, according to Section 14(5)(a) and (e) of the Political Parties Act, according to the branch leadership. Ochanda, however, rejected the expulsion and claimed that he had not engaged in any conduct that would have called for disciplinary action.
