The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has cautioned that the unity of the country stands at risk should the Senate proceed to uphold the decision of the National Assembly to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Expressing its worry through the chair chair Samuel Kobia, the commission on Monday 13, warned Kenyans on the consequence removing Gachagua from the office would bring to the nation.

According to him, successful impeachment of Kenya’s second-in command comes along with a possibility of creating animosity and conflict between the communities around Mt Kenya region and the other communities across the country.
Furthermore, he called upon the senators to consider the current impeachment motion tabled to them with appropriate transparency asking them to only ensure they uphold their constitutional duties as mandated.
“Our major concern is that the way DP Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment process is shaping up could easily lead to conflicts between the people of Mt Kenya area and the people of the country, this is what we are worried about,” NCIC Chairman Samuel Kobia stated
He has echoed his sentiments when they’re are only few days left for the senators to resume duty Wednesday and Thursday this week, to consider the motion before taking a vote.
