MP Kibagendi raises alarm as his constituency handles upto 23 funerals weekly

Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi has opened up about the increasing burden his office faces in supporting bereaved families, revealing that they now handle between 18 and 23 funerals every week.

He described the situation as emotionally and financially overwhelming for both leaders and families who are continually confronted with loss.Kibagendi explained that he personally contributes to every funeral, regardless of whether the death occurs inside Kitutu Chache South or elsewhere.

His assistance, he said, is part of his commitment to stand with families during their most difficult moments. He further noted that when a resident dies in major towns across the country, he provides Ksh10,000 to help transport the body back home for burial—support he says has become increasingly necessary due to frequent cases of deaths occurring away from the constituency.According to the Kitutu Chache South legislator, the rising number of weekly funerals points to a deeper national issue that requires urgent attention.

He believes the trend may be linked to broader challenges in healthcare, social welfare, and economic pressures affecting families across Kenya.Kibagendi urged relevant authorities to examine the root causes behind the escalating mortality trends, stressing that while leaders continue to support families, a nationwide response is needed to reduce the burden on communities.
