Moses Kuria Appoints Faith Mwaura to Kenya Corporation Board

Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has made an appointment to the Kenya Corporation Board, naming his former running mate, Faith Mwaura, to the position. The appointment, which was announced through a gazette notice dated June 15, 2023, will be valid for three years starting from June 16. Kuria cited his authority under section 6 (1) (e) of the State Corporations Act, in conjunction with section 51 of the Interpretations and General Provisions Act, as the basis for the appointment.

Furthermore, the notice specified the revocation of the appointment of Mboche Waithaka. Faith Mwaura holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Daystar University and an MSc Degree in Real Estate from Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, highlighting her educational background.

In addition to the appointment of Faith Mwaura, two other individuals were announced as members of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Accreditation Service. Grace Otieno and Judith Kerich were appointed to these positions for a period of three years, commencing on June 16. The Cabinet Secretary emphasized that previous appointments made under Gazette Notice Nos. 8264/2022 and 9546/2022 were hereby revoked.

This announcement showcases the exercise of Cabinet Secretary Kuria’s authority to appoint individuals to key positions within the government. By appointing his former running mate to the Kenya Corporation Board, he has demonstrated his confidence in her capabilities and expertise. The appointment of Grace Otieno and Judith Kerich to the Kenya Accreditation Service Board further reinforces the government’s commitment to placing qualified individuals in positions of responsibility.
