Detectives in Garissa have detained a man for reportedly impersonating a Kenya Defense Forces member .
A 33-year-old man named Moses Mwenda Karoti was apprehended on Sunday after police tracked him out of his hiding place. After a videotape of the suspect wearing military fatigues went viral on social media, police began a manhunt for him. Following his detention, a search resulted in the recovery of a military uniform, according to DCI.
Prior to his Monday arraignment, the defendant was turned over to Anti Terror detectives for additional questioning.Another incident is the arrest of a man who was allegedly impersonating Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and defrauding unknowing Kenyans of their money.
Detectives claimed that the 22-year-old Collins Kipleting Serem, also known as Rengstar, was apprehended at his Sugoi hideout in Eldoret by investigators working for the DP. The detained suspect is said to have operated a false Facebook account that he used to defraud members of the public. Detectives had not yet determined the precise sum of money he had tricked.
