Lusaka Urges Uhuru To Take After His Forebears

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has been chastised by Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka for his recent attacks on President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Lusaka’s sentiment comes amid a barrage of accusations from Azimio la Umoja leaders that President Ruto is in office illegally.

“I would like to urge the former president to follow in the footsteps of his predecessors, who retired peacefully and allowed the legitimately elected president to carry out their duties without interference,” Lusaka said.

He claimed that by participating in political rallies aimed at discrediting the Ruto leadership, Uhuru was stooping too low and undermining the respect normally accorded to former presidents. Raila Odinga was also chastised by Lusaka for implying that the Ruto government was not legitimate despite having exhausted all legal avenues to challenge his victory.

“Odinga went to court as required by law, and the courts declared Ruto to be a genuine winner, which he should accept and move on,” Lusaka said.

He said Odinga should hang on and try again in 2027 if he wants to be president, because politicking for personal gain will only harm the economy. He said that it was past time for the leaders to put Kenyans’ needs first and let the current government take care of the populace. Lusaka asserted that Uhuru ought to serve as a peacemaker and unite all world leaders. On Sunday, he addressed as President William Ruto during a liturgy at the Athi Catholic Church in Meru.

Among the leaders present were Irrigation Principal Secretary Gitonga Mugambi and Agriculture and Livestock Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi.
