A devastating road accident along the Londiani-Muhoroni road on Monday night claimed four lives and left 56 others injured. The crash, which occurred at around 9:30 pm, involved a passenger bus traveling to Nairobi and a truck headed towards Muhoroni.
According to a police report, the bus veered off the road into a sugarcane farm on the left side when facing Londiani. The impact of the crash resulted in the immediate death of one male and three female passengers.
Emergency responders rushed the injured to nearby medical facilities, including St. Vincent Mission Hospital, Koru Mission Hospital, and Muhoroni Subcounty Hospital. Four critically injured passengers were transferred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) in Kisumu for specialized treatment.
The bodies of the deceased have been moved to St. Vincent de Paul Hospital Mortuary, where they will remain pending identification by their families and subsequent autopsies.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident, urging road users to exercise caution to prevent further tragedies.
