KRA Confirms Death of Middle-Aged Man at Lake Basin Office in Kisumu

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has confirmed the death of a middle-aged man following a tragic incident that occurred on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at its offices located in the Lake Basin Mall, Kisumu. According to a statement issued by KRA, the man reportedly jumped from the second floor of the building, sustained serious injuries, and later succumbed.

KRA expressed deep regret over the incident, extending condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. “KRA deeply regrets this incident and conveys heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” the statement read in part. The Authority further emphasized that it had already reported the matter to relevant authorities for further action.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently underway. KRA stated that it is fully cooperating with law enforcement officers to ensure a thorough probe. The Authority noted that it remains committed to supporting the investigation process to establish the facts behind the tragic event.

In its statement, KRA also reminded members of the public and taxpayers to report any suspicious activities, concerns, or incidents through its official communication channels, including the nearest Tax Service Office, the hotline number 0711099999, or the KRA iWhistle platform.

The incident has sparked concern among Kisumu residents and the wider public, with authorities assuring transparency as investigations continue.
