Kenya Prisons Service Announces Vacancies

The Kenya Prisons Service through the Ministry of Interior has announced vacancies for professional cadet officers, technicians and artisans.

KPS says prospective candidates wishing to apply must be Kenyan citizens, have valid ID, have no criminal record, be between the ages of 18-28 years for Diploma and Certificate holders and be between the ages of 18-30 years for Degree holders.

Further, they should be at least 5 feet 4 inches tall for men and 5 feet 2 inches tall for women, be physically and medically fit and have good hearing and clear vision.

Additionally, the female candidates must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment and during training.

The Service notes that on recruitment, candidates will undergo an intensive government-sponsored paramilitary initial training course (professional) lasting not less than nine months for technicians and artisans, and 13 months for cadet officers.

Candidates for professional cadet officers must possess a relevant undergraduate degree from a recognized institution of higher learning.

The technicians should have a relevant certificate/diploma from a recognized institution and be registered with the relevant bodies where applicable.

Additionally, artisan candidates must possess a minimum mean grade of D+ at KCSE or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution and a certificate in government trade test grade I/II from a recognized institution or a certificate in craft or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

KPS states that all prospective candidates for the advertised posts should apply and fill the PSC.2 form (REVISED 2007) which can be downloaded from www. publicservice. go. ke.

They should attach clear photocopies of relevant academic/ professional certificates and their National identification Cards (ID).

The completed applications should be addressed to The Commissioner General of Prisons, Prisons Headquarters, P O Box 30175-0100 NAIROBI, and delivered at Prisons Headquarters: Magereza House along Bishops Road, Community Area.

The applications should reach the Commissioner General of Prisons before April 30, 2025, by 5 pm.
