Kate Actress Kicks Off A War Against Femicide In Kenya

Award-winning actress and renowned influencer Catherine Kamau aka Kate Actress has boldly come out to defend women from gender based violence. On Friday, the actress led Nyeri women in a march which was meant to mobilize women to speak out on the current rampant femicide cases in Kenya.

The much-anticipated peaceful demonstration was announced by Kate on Thursday through her Instagram account. She urged women to come out in large numbers and join the protest. The march was set to start in Nyeri on Friday and proceed to Nairobi on Saturday.

The vocal mother of two led a crowd of women through Nyeri town as they carried placards rebuking femicide acts. While speaking with a section of media, Kate declared his commitment to fight for women rights as well as safety. The actress stated that as an entertainer and public figure, she is mandated to protect her fellow women from any harm and threats.

Additionally, she acknowledged that majority of his followers and fans are women who have seen her grow through thick and thin. Being her biggest supporters, the influencer vowed to join them to fight for their lives considering that over 500 women have been killed in the recent cases.

The recent femicide cases have led Kenyan public figures to come out and address the issue at hand. Every week, there are at least two reported cases of women who have been brutally murdered and dumped without traces of their killers. It’s reported that some of them are married women who suffer in the hands of their husbands.
