I Cannot Sign An Impeachment Motion Against Rigathi Gachagua – MP Sabina Chege

Nominated MP Sabina Chege has said she will not be part of the team that will sign an impeachment motion to oust Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from office.

Chege made this statement as discussions about a plot to impeach Deputy President Gachagua resurface, citing what they term as insubordination and failure to respect his boss, William Ruto, as well as issues related to tribal politics.

According to Chege, she does not understand why Rigathi Gachagua is the only member being targeted.

I cannot sign an impeachment motion against Rigathi Gachagua. I wonder if he is the only one who should be targeted. We have a habit of destroying our own leaders. In other communities, you will find leaders who have been elected for 25 years,” said Chege.

President William Ruto’s stalwarts had directed their anger against Deputy President Gachagua, accusing him of sabotaging the president, which led to a war of words between them and the second-in-command.

Chege said these are just attacks against the Deputy President to undermine him and his office and are aimed at destroying him politically, despite them being part and parcel of the government.

Chege further urged the president to stop campaigning, refrain from excessive talking, and focus on addressing the critical issues affecting Kenyans.
