Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio party, argued with a policeman on Tuesday over being denied access to the DCI offices.
The former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i was being questioned at Mazingira House, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Headquarters, when the opposition leader arrived. Raila was incensed and demanded to know why it was okay for him to be barred from the offices even though the DCI director’s office is a public one.
You want me to order these people to enter this public office with force? As a public employee, he cannot be told not to speak with the director, Raila alleged.
“They will have troubles if they desire them.”
Raila was informed by the officer, “I am under command sir that you can’t go in, and none of you will go in.
After several hours of interrogation, Matiang’i was ultimately freed.
