Bungoma County Governor Kenneth Lusaka has thanked President William Ruto for helping build the stadium used for the Madaraka Day fete.
Lusaka stated that the county could not have achieved this even if they put money together for 20 years. “We are here because of your benevolence, Mr. President. We could not, as a county government, have achieved these standards for the stadium even if we saved money for the next 20 years,” Lusaka said on Saturday.
According to a statement issued by government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura on Friday, the completion of Phase 1 of the Masinde Muliro Stadium cost Sh807 million.
“Phase II of the Masinde Muliro project, covering terraces, perimeter fences, and access passes, is nearly complete at an additional cost of Sh790 million,” Mwaura said.
The Matulo Airstrip in Bungoma was also rehabilitated at a cost of Sh139 million ahead of the festivities, Mwaura revealed Acknowledging this, According to Interior PS Raymond Omollo, the stadium could host a total of 12,700 residents, and the VVIP lodge at the stadium could host a total of 2,000 guests.
