The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has confirmed that an aircraft with registration number 5Y-CCA was involved in an accident early Tuesday morning, October 28, 2025, in Kwale County. According to a press release signed by Emile N. Arao, the Director General of KCAA, the aircraft was en route from Diani to Kichwa Tembo when it crashed at around 0530Z.
The statement revealed that there were 12 persons on board at the time of the incident. Government agencies, including KCAA, have already dispatched teams to the crash site to investigate the cause of the accident and assess the level of damage.
The investigations will focus on gathering information that could help determine whether the crash was caused by technical failure, weather conditions, or any other contributing factors. “The Authority, working together with other government departments, is committed to establishing the circumstances that led to this unfortunate incident,” the statement read in part.
“Our priority at this stage is to ensure that all emergency response measures are coordinated effectively and that the affected families receive the necessary support,” the statement further read.
KCAA emphasized that it remains steadfast in upholding the highest standards of aviation safety and regulatory oversight as provided under the Kenya Civil Aviation Act, CAP 394. The Authority further noted that all operations are guided by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and recommended practices.
The accident has drawn concern across the aviation sector, with authorities reiterating the importance of strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent future occurrences. As investigations continue, KCAA has promised to release more details once preliminary findings are available. Meanwhile, aviation experts have called for patience and calm as the investigation teams carry out their duties.
