Gachagua’s Staff Blocked From Entering Their Offices

The Impeached Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua’s staff were, on Tuesday morning, blocked from entering their offices at Harambee Annex, in Nairobi. This follows a compulsory leave that all the 108 DP staffs were given on Saturday 19, a day after the Senate upheld impeachment of Gachagua by the National Assembly (NA).

Principal Administrative Secretary Patrick Mwangi, issued directive to heads of department asking them to designate a responsible officer to take over operations forthwith. He said, “all Heads of Departments shall ensure conformity to these directives by 12:00 pm on October 19, 2024.”

To honour this directive, officers from the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) who crowded the surrounding of the said office denied a number of the workers at the former DP’s office access to the DP’s staff offices, forcing them to go back home.

However, Gachagua still maintains his stand as the legitimately appointed Deputy President of the republic of Kenya despite the National Assembly’s approval to President William Ruto’s nominee Prof. Kithure Kindiki to replace him.
