Former CS Adan Mohamed Appointed As Economic Advisor

Adan Mohamed, a former CS, was selected as one of President William Ruto’s economic advisors on Wednesday.

Mohamed is now the third CS from the administration of former President Uhuru Kenyatta to be kept on by Ruto. The first was Simon Chelegui, who is presently the Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs. As his national security adviser, Ruto chose Monica Juma, a former cabinet secretary for defense and energy. Professor Vincent Machuki and Adan Mohamed were both named to the President’s Council of Economic Advisors.

Beatrice Salaal Lemedeket was also appointed, and she will work as the National Police Service’s principal administrative secretary and accounting officer. The President also disclosed the identities of 51 people on Wednesday who will serve as Principal Secretaries in various government departments.

In 2013 former President Uhuru Kenyatta named Adan to the Cabinet as the CS for Industrialization. Later on, he was transferred to the docket for the East African Community, where he worked until February 2022. He left his position to run for governor of Mandera in the elections on August 9 but lost to Mohamed Khalif.
