DP Rigathi Gachagua Gets Back His Ksh.202 Million From State

Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has today been handed over Ksh. 202 Million which was frozen six months ago.

Funds held in three accounts at Rafiki Microfinance Bank in the name of Rigathi Gachagua and also those held in another account belonging to Jenne Enterprises were released to him.

The Asset Recovery Agency (ARA) revealed that the aforementioned decision was arrived at after gathering new evidence, which proved that the money forfeited to the state six months ago was not proceeds of crime and that the second in command has provided satisfactory explanation of the source and legitimacy of the amount of money in question.

Three accounts with money held in Rafiki Microfinance bank have Ksh.165 million, another one with Ksh.35 million and the other holding Ksh.773,228. A fourth account, holding Ksh. 1,138,142, is registered in the name of Jenne Enterprises.

Last year, before the elections, Rigathi Gachagua vowed to fight for the recovery of his frozen money, which the government held after questioning Ksh.12.5 billion that passed through his accounts.
