Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua Presides Over This Year’s Schools Music Gala Awards

The music gala awards were held on Friday , September 23,2022 at the Kisumu Girls High School in Kisumu county. This was the 94th Kenya Music Festivals gala awards.The competition had began on September 17, 2022.

Deputy president Gachagua arrived in Kisumu for the gala awards in company of the Education CS Prof. George Magoha and Kisumu East MP Shakeel Shabbir where they were received by Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o on arrival at the Kisumu International Airport.Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary-General Veronica Maina, Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika, Bomet women representative among other Kenya kwanza leaders also accompanied the Deputy President.This is notably the first time the DP made a trip to Kisumu city since the general elections in August 9.

Moments after he arrived, Gachagua dressed in a floral shirt, a pair of khaki-like pants as a pair of sunglasses was ushered in by Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyongo and Kisumu East MP Shakeel Shabbir.The DP joined students on stage and took part in their dance, a gesture that took over the moment during the gala awards.The former Mathira Member of Parliament (MP) is awarded the winners in the music festival competition.

The festival features learners from ECD, Primary, Secondary, college and University students country-wide.In the competitions students present songs and dances before judges and adjudicators, after that winners are awarded trophies and certificates.Leading schools are expected to perform at the Kisumu State House during the state concert on Saturday, September 24, 2022, where President Ruto is expected to be present as the guest of honour.
