DCI Head Amin Joins Jeff Mwathi Investigation, Body To Be Exhumed On Friday

Chief of Criminal Investigations for the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin joined a team Wednesday looking into the slaying of interior designer Geoffrey Mwathi, also known as Jeff Mwathi.

To conduct a new autopsy, detectives intend to exhume the remains on Friday. As part of the investigation into the tragedy, Amin went to the Roysambu location where interior designer Geoffrey Jeff Mwathi passed away on Tuesday.

Amin was accompanied by homicide unit investigators who wanted to recreate the scene so that they could conduct additional research. He claimed to have gone to the location to ascertain what had taken place.

“Once we visited and recreated the situation, a lot of questions have arisen. We are now heading to a new level, he declared.

On Sunday, Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome stated that they had discovered holes in the occurrence and must exhume the remains to further their investigation. He claimed that police are conducting in-depth inquiries to guarantee the case’s justice.

“The body will be exhumed so we may examine the space where he is claimed to have passed at the window before falling to the ground floor. We are requesting an exhumation order in court, he said.

Mwathi, age 23, died after falling from the 12th story of the Redwood Flats in Kasarani on February 22, 2023.

A figure of interest in the case is the singer DJ Fatxo from the Mugithi.

Before they headed to the singer’s residence at the Redwoods flat, Mwathi spent the day with him. Additionally present at the residence were two women as well as the singer’s cousin and driver. According to authorities, Jeff saw the musician hours earlier to discuss an interior design project and was given the assurance that he would receive a down payment and start working that morning.

Jeff’s suicide was ruled out by DCI, who claimed that he was murdered. Kithure Kindiki, the interior cabinet secretary, gave DCI Mohamed Amin the go-ahead to dispatch a homicide squad from the DCI headquarters to fully examine the incident and take the required measures.
