DCI Apprehends Prominent MCA Over Alleged Koimburi Abduction

In a surprising twist, Grace Nduta Wairimu, the Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Kanyenya-ini Ward, has been detained by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in relation to the alleged abduction of Juja Member of Parliament (MP) George Koimburi. The arrest was announced in a press statement released by the DCI on May 29, 2025.

The case emerged following widespread speculation on social media, with reports hinting at possible foul play. According to the DCI, Wairimu’s arrest is part of an active investigation into what is now believed to be a staged abduction.

Wairimu initially claimed she had spent May 25, 2025, attending church services and political events in Kangema. However, investigators unearthed evidence, including surveillance footage, placing her at Ellis Bar and Restaurant in Kiganjo, Gatundu South, alongside Hon. George Koimburi on the same evening. This contradiction has cast doubt on her statements and raised suspicions about her involvement.

The authorities are now focusing on Wairimu’s potential role in orchestrating the alleged abduction, which investigators suspect was staged for reasons that remain unclear. “The discrepancies between her account and the evidence are crucial to our ongoing inquiry,” stated a DCI spokesperson.

This arrest represents a pivotal moment in a case that has captivated public attention. The DCI has reassured the public of its commitment to transparency, promising further updates as the investigation unfolds.

John Marete, HSC, the Director of Criminal Investigations, underlined the gravity of the allegations, emphasizing that law enforcement is dedicated to uncovering the truth and delivering justice.

The incident has sparked widespread debate among citizens and political commentators, with calls for a comprehensive and impartial investigation. Additionally, the case has reignited discussions about the integrity and accountability of elected officials.

As the investigation continues, the nation waits to uncover the motives behind the purportedly staged abduction and the implications for those involved.
