Cherargei Calls for Disciplinary Action Against Governor Kahiga

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has called for immediate disciplinary action against Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga following his controversial remarks about the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. The senator accused the governor of making divisive statements that could undermine national unity and inflame ethnic tensions.

In a strongly worded statement, Cherargei urged the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party to take swift action against Kahiga, insisting that such utterances were unacceptable from a senior county leader. He further appealed to Nyeri Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to begin impeachment proceedings against the governor, noting that the Senate would be ready to support his removal should the process reach the House.

Cherargei also asked the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to summon and prosecute Governor Kahiga for alleged incitement and ethnic profiling. He said the agency must demonstrate its impartiality by acting firmly against leaders who fuel hatred under the guise of political commentary.

Additionally, the senator called on the Kikuyu Council of Elders to discipline Kahiga, describing his conduct as disgraceful and contrary to the values of leadership. He went further to urge the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) to deregister and disown him, arguing that his actions had stained the image of the teaching profession.

Cherargei also appealed to the governor’s church to consider excommunicating him, stating that his utterances violated moral and ethical principles expected of believers. Concluding his remarks, the senator made a subtle jab, saying Kenyans should continue “sending greetings to him,” a phrase that has recently gained traction in online political circles.
