Babu Owino Slams Tribal Leaders, Calls Them Illiterate

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has called out elected leaders who are still advancing tribal politics.

In a Tweet, the lawmaker said it amounted to nonsense for leaders to be seen playing tribal games in the country.

The ODM MP went ahead to say that most leaders that Kenyans elected are not learned.

“It’s pure balderdash for leaders to be tribal in this country.Mara sisi kama Luhyas,Mara sisi kama Kikuyus,Mara sisi kama wajaluo, this is nonsensical. Most leaders you elected are stupid,” said Owino on Tuesday, January 3.

Babu’s sentiments came after a section of leaders from Mt Kenya were involved in a heated exchange with their Western Kenya counterpart. The Mt Kenya leaders warned their counterparts from the western region against accusing Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of trying to under-manage Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja.

Some of the Western Kenya’s elected leaders accused the deputy president of being tribal and threatened to bring a motion of impeachment against him.

On the other hand, Nyeri senator Wahome Wamatinga threatened to marshal for the impeachment of Sakaja if he fails to respect Gachagua on grounds that going aginst Gachagua equals disrespecting Kikuyus. According to Wamatangi,Gachagua did Sakaja justice by contributing to alot of kikuyu votes that enabled Sakaja’s win.
