Babu Owino Hints at 2027 Presidential Bid With Ndindi Nyoro

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has stirred political debate after hinting at a potential joint presidential bid with Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a morning show on Hot 96, Babu revealed growing pressure from his supporters to run for the presidency. He cited his extensive leadership experience, starting from his university days as a student leader at the University of Nairobi, as preparation for the top seat.

Babu praised Ndindi Nyoro, calling him a top performer and a strong potential running mate. “It depends on how we decide with my brother, Ndindi. He is a performer, and if today we decide that we are going for the presidency, we will win very early in the morning without even paying agents,” Babu confidently declared.

He further pointed to international examples of youthful leadership, citing Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traore as inspiration. According to Babu, it’s time for Kenya to trust young, energetic leaders to steer the nation forward.

Turning his focus to President William Ruto, Babu expressed disappointment in the current administration, accusing it of failing to meet the expectations of Kenyans. He highlighted rising taxes and the high cost of living as key issues that could cost Ruto a second term.

“I believed Ruto had already secured 2027 after his 2022 win, but now he’s losing it due to obvious failures,” Babu said.

The legislator also mentioned a potential coalition involving leaders like Kalonzo Musyoka, Edwin Sifuna, James Orengo, Eugene Wamalwa, Gladys Wanga, Irungu Kang’ata, and George Natembeya, indicating a broad alliance could be in the works.
