Arsenal Fans Pay Emotional Tribute at Raila Odinga’s Gravesite in Bondo

Hundreds of Arsenal FC supporters from across Kenya converged at the gravesite of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga today, exactly one week after his burial.

The late opposition leader, a passionate Arsenal devotee, was honored at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Opoda Farm, Bondo, as fans transformed the solemn site into a vibrant sea of red and white, celebrating his enduring love for the Gunners. Clad in Arsenal jerseys and scarves, the fans laid wreaths and flowers at Odinga’s grave, their voices rising in a stirring rendition of “North London Forever,” the club’s anthem.

The gathering, widely shared on X, was a poignant tribute to “Baba,” whose fandom spanned decades—from his early days cheering cementing his loyalty to Arsenal under Arsène Wenger’s era. His dream of seeing Arsenal lift the UEFA Champions League remained unfulfilled at his passing on October 15, 2025.

“This is more than football; it’s family,” said Joseph Okoth, a fan from Nairobi, as he recounted Odinga’s spirited matchday banter on social media and his memorable visits to the Emirates Stadium, including a 2022 match against Liverpool. The event followed tributes from Arsenal FC and Arsenal Fan TV, who hailed Odinga as a “dedicated Gunner” and a champion of justice.

The visit came hours after players and supporters of Gor Mahia, another club Odinga cherished, paid their respects, underscoring his unifying legacy in Kenyan football. As the sun set over Bondo, the fans’ chants echoed: a testament to a man whose passion for Arsenal burned as brightly as his fight for Kenya.
