Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has stated that the incoming regime of President William Ruto must first seek to retrieve assets stolen by the previous administration.
In a statement issued on Sunday, he stated that failing to recover the stolen monies will result in widespread looting under his government.
“The first week of H. E. Ruto’s Cabinet begins on Monday, and I state unequivocally that in order to stop the robbery of public funds by his Ministers/others (I.e. Governors), Ruto must retrieve every penny stolen by Uhuru’s Ministers/others (I.e Governor). If he does not, we shall witness widespread looting “Ahmednasir stated
Ahmednasir’s remarks follow the CS’s recent appointment, vetting, and swearing-in.
CS declared their assets and the source of their riches during the verification process.
The CSs were sworn in on Thursday in Nairobi’s State House.
Davis Chirchir (Energy and Petroleum), former Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya (Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs), Mercy Wanjau (Secretary to the Cabinet), Alfred Mutua (Foreign and Diaspora Affairs), and Ababu Namwamba are among the Cabinet Secretaries (Youth Affairs, Sports and the Arts).
Others include former Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u (National Treasury and Planning), former Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu, former Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen (Roads, Transport and Public Works), former Narok Woman Representative Soipan Tuya, and (Education).
Musalia Mudavadi, the nominee for prime cabinet secretary, Peninah Malonza, the nominee for secretary of tourism and wildlife, Justin Muturi, the former speaker of the National Assembly, Aden Duale, the Garissa Township MP, Aden Muturi, the nominee for attorney general, and Simon Chelugui, the nominee for labor secretary, were also sworn in.
Alice Wahome, a Kandara MP, was sworn in as a CS for water, sanitation, and irrigation, together with Prof. Kithure Kindiki, a former Tharaka Nithi senator, Moses Kuria, a former Gatundu South MP, and Susan Nakhumicha (Health).
The National Assembly also approved the nominations of Eliud Owalo (ICT and Digital Economy), Rebecca Miano (East African Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands and Regional Development), Florence Bore (Labor and Social Protection), and Zacharia Njeru (Lands, Housing and Urban Development).
